Credit Repair Scams

Have you seen ads promising "a new credit identity?"

If it sounds too good to be true, it's usually because it is.

Signs of a Credit Repair Scam

Company insists you pay them before they do any work on your behalf.

You're told not to contact the credit reporting companies directly.

They don't explain your legal rights.

Instruct you to give false information on your applications or dispute info you know is accurate.

Real Credit Repair Companies are Required to:

Explain your legal rights in a written contract that also details the services they'll perform.

Provide a three-day right to cancel without any charge.

Tell you how long it will take to get results and the total costs you'll pay.
